Mahjong Packaging for Retail: Boxes, Inserts, Labels and Barcodes
A practical guide to Mahjong retail packaging, covering boxes, cases, inserts, labels, barcodes, accessories, internal layout, and sample-stage approval.
Start with the retail context
Retail packaging should reflect where the set will be sold and used: boutique shelf, online fulfillment, gifting, travel, or collector presentation. The context influences box structure, protection, handles, inserts, and visual hierarchy.
State the retail context in the project brief so packaging decisions support the intended product position.
Prepare the packaging information
A packaging brief can include the logo, product name, color references, typography, artwork, barcode, instruction text, care information, language versions, label requirements, and carton direction.
Separate approved brand assets from open decisions so the sample and quotation do not rely on assumptions.
Coordinate the internal layout
The box or case should accommodate tiles, racks, pushers, dice, chips, storage components, inserts, and any additional parts. Review internal protection and fit with physical dimensions.
Check packaging as a complete retail-ready set instead of approving the box separately from the accessories.
Approve the final packaging direction
Before production, confirm packaging material, dimensions, artwork, finish, labels, barcode placement, inserts, accessory quantity, and carton requirements against the quotation and physical sample.
